When to actually come to Vietnam
The question we get more than any other is some version of when should we come?
The answer you'll find online is almost always written for tourists, not golfers. It talks about beaches and city breaks, and it treats Vietnam as one country with one climate. It isn't. Vietnam is over a thousand miles long, and the north and south are in different weather systems entirely.
The short version
If you want one window that works almost everywhere, it's October to April. The north is cool and dry, the central coast has come out of typhoon season, and the south is comfortable. That's why our season runs the way it does.
What that actually means, region by region
In the north — Hanoi and the courses around it — October through April is genuinely lovely. Cool mornings, mist coming off the hills, sweaters in December and January. Play here in July and you'll suffer; it's hot and wet, and the afternoon storms are real.
The central coast around Danang and Hoi An is the one people get wrong. It's beautiful from February to August, but October and November bring the heaviest rain of anywhere in the country. If you're planning a coastal trip, come in spring rather than late autumn.
The south — Ho Chi Minh City and Ho Tram — is the most forgiving. It's playable year-round. The wet season from May to October means short, heavy afternoon downpours rather than washed-out days, and a morning tee time usually gets you round dry.
The bit nobody mentions
Book earlier than you think. The good tee times in peak season go three to four months ahead, and the best rooms at the hotels worth staying in go before that. Every year we have conversations in September with people who wanted to come in November, and every year the answer involves compromise.
If you're thinking about this coming season, now is the time to start the conversation — not because we're trying to rush you, but because the difference between planning in July and planning in October is the difference between the trip you wanted and the trip that was still available.
Thinking about dates? Tell us roughly when and how many of you there are, and we'll tell you honestly what's achievable — even if the answer is "come a month later".
